about Marcel Breuer Wassily Chair
The Wassily Chair
The Wassily Chair by Marcel Breuer is a lounge Chair made of steel; to date futuristic and today still modern. The construction is made of a smart strut of polished steel tubes. In total six elements join and build up the base. Leather belts are wrapped around the tubes to make the seat as well as the backrests and the armrests. The Wassily Chair fits perfect for office interior, is used frequently in practices; but also, complements the private room with its clear and structural charm.
Marcel Breuer created the Wassily Chair originally under the name of ?Modell B3? in the years 1925 and 1926 when he was the director of the furniture workshop at Bauhaus in Dessau, Germany. A duplicate was built for the painter Wassily Kandinsky, who admired the design by Breuer. When, decades later, the Italian company Gavina reproduced the Chair, it became known with the name ?Wassily?.
