Poul M. Volther worked as a carpenter before he graduated from the School of Applied Arts in Copenhagen. The peculiarity of Volthers operation was explained by its amazing powers of observation, which had a direct impact on the design of his works. Volther studied natural environments with precision and brought their circumstances together with his understanding of functional furniture design and high quality material into base line.
Volthers famous Corona Chair was created by his personal perception of a solar eclipse. This allows the unique shape and color of the Corona Chairs attributed to the recognizable pattern of light of a solar eclipse. At the same time the design of the Corona chair includes the observation of the human body as its ergonomic design is geared to the textures of the spine and thus ensures a high degree of comfort.
